This newly constructed 640,000 square foot, 375 bed acute care complex built by EllisDon Construction Ltd. for the Thunder Bay Regional Health Authority at a construction value of $182 million. Over 4000 employees and EllisDon hired Butler-AFCI Group to organize for the trades, consultants and authorities all service types, there “F” ratings and corresponding ULC design numbers by collecting on-site data complete with in-depth reviews of all penetration types with the building trades. We provided sketches, data and photos of all proposed engineer judgments throughout the facility, to forward on to the Fire Protection Engineers of the firestopping manufacturers chosen for this project. The second part of our scope included inspection (mainly post installation inspection) of installed firestop systems based on ASTM E2174 standards for inspection of firestopping of service penetrations.
