Motor City Auto Mall, Dubai, UAE

Project Owner/Client : Union Properties

Project Managers : EDARA

MotorCity celebrates modern man’s fascination with the automobile and all it suggests: the freedom of movement, the thrill of speed, the sleekness of aerodynamic design, the efficiency of cutting-edge engineering, the promise of technological progress. A year-round destination for motor sports fans worldwide, MotorCity offers a wonderland of experiences for all age groups and gender, a truly distinctive place to live, work and play.

MotorCity AutoMall – a project by Union Properties spread 287,000 sqm – is modern kaleidoscope of textures and interwoven planes of materials that creates the canvas for the sleek architecture of the AutoMall. A high-rise office building, a hotel, and a series of auto showrooms interconnect to create a unique and exciting complex. The highest standards of technology and sustainability have been incorporated into the design, including maximization of natural light, which allows the building to be labeled “Green and Energy Saving.”

The three elements of the complex – the showrooms, offices, and hotel – are part of a unified flowing form that bends, splits, twists, and intersects with itself to create functional spaces. Each auto showroom has its own office and support spaces. Additional amenities include retail locations for designer car related products and cafes.

Overlooking the action on the Dubai Autodrome racetrack, the AutoMall is the perfect place for thrill seekers. Privileged clients can conduct test drives on the FIA F1 approved circuit, and all 24 showrooms have a visual link to the racing venue. The offices command a stunning view of the entire track, especially the one through four turn sequence, and guests of the suites and rooftop restaurant at the hotel can enjoy the entire panorama of the track and gulf beyond.

F1-X Dubai – A Formula One theme park.

Apart from Dubai Autodrome which was opened in 2004 the remaining developments within Motor City were due to be completed in 2009. However in February 2009 Union Properties announced that the F1-X theme park would be put on hold and delayed by at least a year due to the global financial crisis and problems with obtaining credit. Handover of UpTown MotorCity to owners started in phases during March 2009 and is due to be fully handed over by end of 2009
